Build A Family Team
Why Walk?
This year alone, families are expected to raise nearly $21 million nationwide through the Walk to Cure Diabetes program. Children and adults who live with juvenile diabetes, and the people who love them, walk to DO something about juvenile diabetes!
Attend the Team Captains’ Kick-off Event
Meet other new and returning families, get fundraising tips and find out the details about participating in the Walk. Date TBD.
Register For the Walk!
Access to the registration website will be available in early November. Once registered, you’ll receive periodic updates on the Walk and have access to fundraising resources, including building a Team page and inviting friends and family to walk with your team or make a donation.
Build Your Team
Ask your immediate family, extended family, neighbors, clients, babysitters, co-workers, doctors and anyone else you would like to walk and raise funds for juvenile diabetes research on your family’s behalf.
Fundraising Tips
In addition to sending donation requests online, you can create a video diary and post it online, sell JDRF merchandise, organize a chili cook-off or other fun event, ask for donations in lieu of gifts for an special occasion, have a yard sale… get creative! Visit the Fundraising Tips page for more ideas.
After the Walk
Say thank you! Send an update to your donors about how much your team raised and how many team members you had, include a photo of your team, and let them know what JDRF is doing with the funds you raised!
Virtual Walk Teams
A “virtual walk team” is comprised of a person or family whose sole purpose is to raise money for the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. Virtual walk team participants do not need to attend the Walk events. Simply register online and get started fundraising!
Kids School Walk
Don’t forget to include your child’s school in your fundraising efforts. Get your school involved thoughout the year. Invite your principal, school nurse, teachers and classmates to join your Walk team or host a School Walk.
