Our partner Dave and his crew at the Waldorf, MD location have already raised over $3,000 and the campaign has only just begun!

During the campaign, Boston’s locations will sell paper hearts for $1.00 with all the proceeds going to JDRF. Additionally, $1.00 from the sale of two menu items-Mini Dippers and Chocolate Amore- will also be donated to JDRF.

From February 11th-February 14th, Boston’s will donate $1.00 for every heart-shaped pizza sold towards JDRF’s mission to fund diabetes research.

Dine to Donate!
On February 2, 2011, Boston’s Pizza in Waldorf will ALSO donate 20% of all proceeds from 11:00am-9:00pm to JDRF! Be sure to stop in and enjoy some delicious pizza AND give back to JDRF.

The JDRF Capitol Chapter will once again partner with the Waldorf, MD location at 10440 O’Donnell Place. For more information about Boston’s Pizza, visit their website here.

Last year Dave Widener and his staff were the highest raising store for this JDRF National Campaign. They are well on their way to surpassing the over $6,000 raised last year. This means that individuals age 70.5 and greater can once again transfer up to $100,000 per year directly from their IRA to JDRF and their other favorite 501 (c)(3) organizations without having to pay any Federal Income Tax on sums withdrawn. This law is in effect for 2010 and 2011. Because it was passed so late in the year donors can elect to count withdrawals made in January of 2011 as having been made in 2010.

This opportunity may have strong appeal if you are at least age 70.5 (by 12/31/2011), have an IRA account and you:

*Do not need the amount that you are required to withdraw annually from your IRA
*Do not itemize your deductions or your charitable donations are subject to deductibility limitations
*Wish to make an immediate impact on our ability to fund research to better treat and cure type 1 diabetes.
