Life With Diabetes
JDRF School Resources
The JDRF staff and volunteers can offer information to families, nurses, teachers and school administrators about the impact of type 1 diabetes on children. Together we can work to ensure that children with type 1 diabetes have a positive school experience.
JDRF’s School Advisory Toolkit
All students with type 1 diabetes need a strong support network at school to help them properly manage their type 1 diabetes on a daily basis. Cultivating good relationships with school staff is key. JDRF has developed a new resource to support and empower families as they communicate with school staff throughout the year and to educate school personnel and administrators about type 1 diabetes.

School Walk Program
The JDRF School Walk to Cure Diabetes is a great way to educate kids, teachers, and other school staff about type 1 while helping out others. The two goals of this program are to teach students about diabetes and to raise money for type 1 diabetes research.
Benefits for the School:
-Students and school staff learn about the different types of diabetes, the warning signs for the disease, and how type 1 diabetes affects students.
-The school receives 10% of the money raised.
-Students awarded with fun prizes depending on the amount of money they collect.
-Earn a JDRF Kids Walk banner to proudly display the school’s fundraising accomplishments and commitment to JDRF’s mission.
